Karen Boyer, MSN, RN
Director, Clinical Operations
Karen has been a nurse since 1975 and her career has been focused on community and public health. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from the University of Michigan (Magna cum Laude) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Grand Valley State University. Karen worked several years as a Nurse Consultant for the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) where she conducted quality accreditation surveys and provided consultation in a variety of different types of health care facilities. During her tenure at MDCH, she also was part of the Diabetes Prevention and Control Program team and coordinated the certification program for diabetes self-management training programs (DSMTP). Prior to coming to the DHWI, Karen was Practice Manager at the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) and developed accredited educational programs and was instrumental in helping to develop AADE’s Diabetes Education Accreditation Program for DSMTPs.
